So, the arrival to Seattle has occurred, though delayed by a couple of hours due to a leaky hydraulic pump on the plane in Phoenix.
I caught the bus from the airport without too much drama, but quickly reallized that my iPhone GPS wasn’t really behaving properly. I ended up getting on the right bus eventually, and arrived at my stop with about a mile walk to my destination. Right away, it feels like England. Yuck you say? No, I mean London. But the strange thing is, there doesn’t seem to be anyone around, but all the restaurants and bars are full. The other thing is…I keep seeing people walking around and automatically thinking “uhoh, someone wanting some change” and it’s not, it’s regular old people, and they’re smiling. And it’s 9pm. Other things I’ve noticed are: hybrids, biodiesel, big hills, Safeway, and lots of coffee.
I found Remedy Teas, which was recommended by my new couchsurfing friend Kim. Vegan what what? All the tea you can imagine, and most menu items can be made vegan. I’m having a cucumber and “cream cheese” sandwich at the moment with some fancy green tea. The guy brought the tea to my perch at the bar and plopped down a kitchen timer and a mug with a filter in it. “You know how to use one of these, right?” I guess I look like I drink tea.
Listening to the people talk in here is interesting…I keep hearing words like deployment, Facebook, design, code. Gulp.
I’m going to find zhouse and wait up for Matt, who should be getting in around 1:30am Pacific time. Might be a struggle. Hopefully he’ll be up for coming back here tomorrow.
